INTERVIEW CARPE DIEM

Q103

Many people enter the film industry through a family member or friend. In your case, how did you enter the film industry?

Vocation and desire to tell and create stories

Why did you decide to make movies?

Because I was an actor first and that led me to get on the other side of the camera

Tell us about your project, why did you start it and how did it come about?

Rafael Kyokai wrote a script and together we started working on it with enthusiasm. It´s a good story

Had you previously been in another project? How was your experience?

We had previously been other two projects and  won several awards

The best and the worst of this project is…

The best thing is the creativity and the worst thing the financing

If you could go back in time, would you change anything about filming or pre-production?

Of course, you would always add or subtract something, when you see the results in the end

What do you expect from festivals for your project?

Recognition and awards, of course

Do you have experience in film festivals, how has your experience been?

The experience is always good whether you win or lose. We never lose the illusion of continuing to create new things.

Many of the projects we receive are self-financed, without any producer behind them, which makes all the processes very difficult. Can you tell us what the pre-production process was? Did you do it, did they help you?

Noboby helped us. We had to do everything ourselves

And your film preferences? What do you look at in a movie? Acting, direction, production, cinematography, soundtrack etc…

Everything

Your three favorite movies?

Only three? It´s very difficult because I have  so many favourites, but I love Suspiria, Blade runner, Midsommar, etc, etc, etc

And your directors?

Many like John Houston, Dario Argento, Tarantino, Ridley Scott, Ari Aster and many others.

Can you recommend us an independent movie that you wouldn't recommend to everyone?

Reservoir Dogs, Parasites, Easy Rider, comes to mind

And the reason for this choice?

Action, direction, screenplay, acting….

And to finish, tell us three movies that you hate but that most people like.

All the Tom Cruise ones, which are more than three
